Good People
Thursday 13th Mar, 2014 → Sunday 30th Mar, 2014
The Kavinoky Theatre, a professional theatre on the campus of D'Youville College, is gearing up to unveil one of its most anticipated productions of the season. David Lindsay-Abaire's GOOD PEOPLE opens on March 7 and runs a limited four-week engagement through March 30, 2014.
Welcome to Southie, a Boston neighborhood where a night on the town means a few rounds of bingo, where this month's paycheck covers last month's bills, and where Margie Walsh has just been let go from yet another job. Facing eviction and scrambling to catch a break, Margie thinks an old fling who's made it out of Southie might be her ticket to a fresh new start. But is this apparently self-made man secure enough to face his humble beginnings? Margie is about to risk what little she has left to find out. With his signature humorous glow, Lindsay-Abaire explores the struggles, shifting loyalties and unshakeable hopes that come with having next to nothing in America.
The Kavinoky Theatre's production features Eileen Dugan, Anne Gayley, April A. Jones, Lisa Ludwig, and Peter Palmisano. Directed by Robert Waterhouse, The Kavinoky's stellar design team has pulled out all the stops for this important and illuminating play. David King's pitch-perfect set, Brian Cavanagh's lighting design, Geoffrey Tocin's sound design, and Dixon Reynolds's costumes will transport us to modern-day America.
Performances for this four-week limited engagement (March 7 – March 30, 2014) will take place on Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. The gala opening night performance will be held on Friday, March 7 at 8:00 p.m. and includes a catered wine reception with the cast following the performance.
