Tucked away on Mississippi Street behind the First Niagara Center in the historic Cobblestone District sits Helium Comedy Club. The chain, which also has clubs in Philadelphia and Portland, just opened its newest venue here in Buffalo last December. To date they have hosted a variety of popular acts such as JB Smoove, Christopher Titus, Dave Attell, and Gilbert Gottfried.
The club features Elements Bar & Grille, which includes a full bar and dining area that can accommodate up to one hundred guests. There is a large outside patio as well. The show room boasts a state of the art sound system and seats approximately 200 people, providing an intimate atmosphere that facilitates a greater connection between performer and audience, one that cannot be replicated in larger venues. Shows typically run Thursday through Saturday nights, and consist of three performers; an opener, feature, and headliner. Helium, in its short existence here in Buffalo, has become a go-to venue for those seeking quality stand-up routines in a cool, ambient atmosphere.
