Ahh, the Friday fish fry. For many of us it’s a tradition not only for the Lenten Season, but all year round. One of my favorite takeout seafood restaurants, Bailey Seafood, has been a staple on the East side since 1985. They offer a variety of fresh fish including haddock, tilapia, salmon, red snapper, perch, pike, butterfish, catfish, silver bass, porgy, smelts, and whiting. Also, they offer shellfish including crab, lobster, shrimp, crawfish, oyster, and clams. For most of these items, the customer can order them cooked to go or buy items raw and cook them at home. The classic fish fry dinner is hand breaded and comes with your choice of fish, fries, homemade coleslaw, hushpuppies, and tartar sauce. You can get the combo which adds 2 shrimp and 2 chicken fingers or the super combo which adds 4 shrimp and 3 chicken fingers. For customers who are health conscious, baked or steamed fish is offered. Baked items are cooked in a homemade garlic and butter sauce. Another must try item I recommend is the super sandwich, which is fish, coleslaw, fries, and tartar sauce on a bun. If you still have room, try the homemade sweet potato pie for dessert or one of the special ice cream pint flavors including sweet potato pie, banana pudding, or peach cobbler. Going to the restaurant on a Friday evening will definitely take some time. You can call ahead or order online for convenience. Your first online order takes 15% off and every order after that takes 10%. For the tasty cuisine and budget friendly prices I give Bailey Seafood 4/5 Vibes.
