Cinco de Mayo – the 5th of May, the day the Mexicans defeated the French in the 1860’s in the city of Puebla de Zaragoza. A day not really celebrated in México but one that has turned into a fiesta in the nation… and most importantly a day that provides everyone an excuse to throw on a sombrero, devour tortilla chips, and down some refreshing Margaritas.
When we think of México and alcohol, most likely two images form in our heads: 1) A corona bottle with a lime wedged into it chilling on the beach, and 2) Margaritas. While this is a generalization of a large gastronomic culture of a country, the Margarita became popular for a reason.
