This week's must-see is Lumagination! This spectacular light show at the Botanical Garden is a steamy, exotic treat during the chill of winter. Wednesday is family fun night, Thursday is student night, and the whole shebang has been extended through February 21 to include Winter Break.
Looking for a new ride? Or even just fantacizing? There's fun for the whole family at the Buffalo Auto Show this weekend. This chrome and horsepower extravaganza starts on Thursday and runs through Sunday at the Convention Center. But give the kids a break on Sunday - head to Chestnut Ridge Park for Winterfest or chill at Kleinhans at BPO Kids Drums Around the World.
For some adult fun, check out Ben Glieb at Helium. He'll be eliciting laughter from Thursday through Saturday. And there is no dearth of musical opps. Choose from the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Key Bank Center (don't forget about the After Party at Iron Works), the Buddy Holly Tribute at the Lancaster Opera House and Bands in the Brewery with Boys of Summer at the New York Beer Project on Friday. Save Saturday for the Elton John and Billy Joel Tribute at the Lancaster Opera House. Hot tip: take a chance on Buck, Boogie, Bop, and Beyond: The Black and Brown of Broadway Musicals by students from the Buffalo State Theater department at the Maxine and Robert Seller Theatre through Saturday.
To have some fun while supporting a good cause attend WEDI's Winterfest. It's on Friday at Rich's Atrium. If you're feeling frisky, Warm Your Heart at the Winter Memory Walk at Niagara Hospice on Saturday.
If you're in the mood for something cerebral, heads to South Campus on Wednesday for Blueprints for Belonging: john a. powell at UB's Hayes Hall. Or check out After the Revolution which opens at the Jewish Repertory Theatre on Thursday. The Barrel Factory is also hosting Artlab: Emerging Leaders in the Arts Buffalo on Thursday. Highly recommended is The Solidarity Party: To Honor and Celebrate International Scholars, Students, Immigrants, and Refugees at Asbury Hall on Sunday.
Finally, don't forget. It's President Lincoln’s Birthday Celebration on Sunday. The Buffalo History Museum hosts the longest running birthday party for Honest Abe in the nation! And there's Jazz on Second Sundays at the Museum on Sunday, too. A two-fer!
