An Evening with Sevendust (Acoustic Concert)
The Rapids Theatre
Fri, June 27
There’s something almost intangible about a band with strong chemistry. When the guitarists vibe off each other just right, the bassist is lock in step with the drummer, the music almost transcends the musicians. And when the vocalist is feeding off the power of the other players, almost anything is possible. It’s something Sevendust learned early in their career when guitarist Clint Lowery joined forces with the eclectic Atlanta group.

“I knew once I got him in there that he could definitely change the band fully,” says drummer Morgan Rose. “His background vocals and his writing style and guitar playing were the final ingredients for us to become the band that we needed to be.”

With Lowery as a major contributor, Sevendust released four albums that stretched the limits of hard rock and metal, combining elements of thrash, classic metal, southern rock and soul into songs that were both sinfully tuneful and ruthlessly aggressive. Then in 2003, after the release of Seasons, the guitarist quit to focus on his other band Dark New Day. Sevendust continued for three more albums, and enjoyed considerable success, but something was clearly missing. So, when the band reunited with Lowery in early 2008, it was like the missing piece of a jigsaw puzzle was finally reinserted and the picture was again complete. More details here.

City of Night 2014
Silo City
Sat, June 28
CITY of NIGHT, a one-night multi-disciplinary art event, takes place at a grouping of historic, privately-owned grain elevators on the Buffalo River, just off Ohio Street. Emerging Leaders in the Arts Buffalo toured the space in fall of 2011, envisioning a large art event there. What we did not know was the enormity of public response that was to follow: we hosted 3,500 attendees at our first event in September, 2012 and 12,000 at our event last July!
With art installations in and outside the grain elevators, live music, theater and dance performance, an art fair, interactive art and cultural booths, food trucks, beer and wine tent, and water taxi and bike valet, the event has something for everyone.

We are thrilled to be launching this, our third-year event, with a VIP Preview Night on Friday, June 27th, 8-11pm (tickets available soon) and main event on Saturday, June 28th, 4pm-1am. We are improving the infrastructure, adding new and incredible talent to the roster, and offering unparalleled experiences. Come share your CITY of NIGHT with us. More details here.
