Tell me...Did you know that Ryan Fitzpatrick is from Harvard?

Did you also know that David Nelson and Fred Jackson are undrafted free agents?

Did you know that Stevie had 9 catches going into last year?

Did you know that Naaman Roosevelt has been cut twice from the team?

Did you even know that Fitz doesn't take his wedding ring off?

You know, I've already sold the no-names thing for the first three victories of the season and sure, they are still nameless folks, but for today, those nameless guys are good. Damn good. I gave the Bills absolutely no shot in winning this game. I felt the talent of Philly would be just too much for the Bills. Plus, their backs were against the wall. It just had that same ole recipe of disaster for any talented, wounded team to walk into the lion's den of a bunch of little lamb. How many times have we seen a underachieving team come into a team's house and kick their asses? Too many.

Sometimes, the NFL can be pretty predictable. You can just sense a bad game coming. I sensed a pissed off Eagles team. Instead, the Bills played the majority of this game ticked off. They were ticked off because they blew the Cincy game. They were probably pissed off because some of the (716) were jumping off the bandwagon. One thing you can say about these guys is that they show a ton of emotion. From George Wilson's politician like quotes, to the way Fred Jackson runs, they do it all with passion and pride. These guys don't give up and they are learning how to win games of every type of magnitude. Coming from behind or needing a big defensive play seems to be the norm for these guys.

Good or lucky?

I say good. You don't just luck into forcing 8 turnovers from Tom Brady and Mike Vick. Unlike the classic 7-9 years, they are beating good teams. Lucky? Yes, we are lucky to be Bills fans because this is f#cken fun!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--What amazes me most about this team are the improvements that key players have made over the last 18 games. Ryan Fitzpatrick has gone from a career back-up to a guy who could make 8-10 million a year. Stevie Johnson went from being the 6th wideout in 2009 to becoming a go-to-guy. However, even those two players can't hold a candle to George Wilson. This guy was a fricken converted wideout and is playing lights out. I'm talking at a pro bowl level. Today, he made more plays than Donte Whitner did in his 5 years in Buffalo. The Bills used him in so many different ways. He blitzes, he pressures the QB, he converts picks, he's supporting the run and he's a damn good leader, who does Mary J. Blige videos! The dude has the life!? Going into the season, I didn't think of him as being a good tackler or a guy who could support the run. I was wrong. He's been giving some nice hits and he hardly misses tackles. Same goes for his partner in crime, J. Byrd, who is becoming a safety who can take your head off. When he was getting a ton of picks as a rookie, he couldn't tackle worth a Donte Whitner damn. Now, he gets at least 2-3 good licks a game. The last time the Bills had a decent 1-2 punch at safety was when they had Kurt Schulz and Henry Jones. Yes, we have come a long way since Coy Wire and Keion Carpenter.

---What can I say about Fred Jackson that hasn't already been said? Well, I'll say he's our MVP. Whenever the Bills need a big play, who do they go to? Fred Jackson. What set-up the winning points against the Pats? I long screen pass to Fred Jackson. Facing a 3rd and short, who gets the Ball? #22. Why is CJ Spiller riding the bench? Because Fred Jackson is that damn good! He's made so many big plays this season for the Bills. He has over 700-yards in total offense on the season and over his last 13 games, Jackson has over 100-yards in total offense in 9 of them. Jackson is also averaging almost 8-yards a touch (rushing and receiving). Talk about your all-purpose back. He's only 129 yards shy of his career high for receiving in a season. He's kind of like the fire starter for the team. When the game starts, Jackson averages over 5-yards a carry for the 1st quarter. When the 2nd half starts, his average in the 3rd quarter climbs to 8-yards per carry! Actually, the 4th quarter has been kind of crappy for him, as he only has 32-yards rushing during that quarter on the season.  Anyways, he's just awesome and Ralph better pay attention to the crowd chanting "Freddy, Freddy" because they ain't chanting for Fred Smerlas.

---Nick Barnett is awesome. Yes, he probably has maybe 1-2 years left, but he is so much better than Poz. I'm talking light years better. He's a better leader and without even looking at the stats, he probably had more picks today than Poz did for his entire time in Buffalo. OK, Poz actually has four for his career, but you get the picture. He makes plays and just gives them an athleticism that we haven't seen from the inside linebackers in years.

---Speaking of the defense, yes, they have a ton of problems. They gave up over 450 yards in total offenses for the fourth straight game, which is a team record. They can't get sacks. I don't even know if Kyle Williams is still on the team and Shawne Merriman has two of the weakest sacks you will ever see. They are currently ranked 29th in yards given up. Yes, thank goodness the Bills scoreboard isn't operated like Fenway Park because the operator would have serious arm cramps from switching the numbers constantly. However, they are causing a ton of turnovers. And if you can get those, it doesn't matter how many yards you are giving up. Turnovers are the great equalizer. Oh, so Mike Vick is driving the Eagles to a game-tying score? Interception and morale killer for the Eagles. The Bills already have more interceptions this year (12) than they did last year (11). They already have 3 defensive touchdowns on the season, which ties the number they had last year and are leading the league currently. Yes, these turnovers could all come to a stop anytime soon, but don't say the defense sucks. Just ask Tom Brady and Mike Vick.

---I will also say this, the NFL these days are all about yards. I'm sure you guys read Sully's piece last week about how passing yards are out of control. That's just how the NFL is now. It's like MLB during the late 90's when ERAs were out of control because of steroids. Currently, 19 teams are giving up more than 24 points a game. In 2006, that number was four and no team gave up more than 26 points a game. Nine teams currently have given up an average of 385 yards a game, while in 2006, no one gave up more than 370 yards a game. Yes, it's a passing (steroid) era because of the rules and teams using the spread. So, sure, the Bills can't stop anyone when it comes to yardage and points, but when you look at it, not that many teams are. Bottom line: I think the new era of passing is a bigger factor than the Bills defense sucking.

---I have absolutely no clue who will be the Bills 4th wideout next week. Call Eric Moulds or Peerless Price.

---I thought Fitz played alright, and yes, his stats seem to be coming back to earth. However, he did play against a great secondary and the Bills were smart enough to do more of a power running game. Next week will be a nice test for Fitz, because he's going against the 28th ranked pass defense. If Fitz is a franchise QB, he should slice up the Giants secondary...that way, we can dismiss the notion that defenses have caught up to him.

---Andy Reid should be fired. OK, that may be a little too much. However, you saw an Eagles team today that cracked under the pressure of being 1-3. You saw all week long how frustrated the Eagles were. Their tone should have been like the way we perceived them, "Hey, they have a ton of talent and have just caught some bad breaks. They are too good." Instead, I saw a team that entered today's game with a ton of gray clouds over their heads. They were pressing...big time! 8 seconds left in the first half and you don't kick a field goal? Tipped passes because your wideouts can't catch. Stupid penalties. Tons of turnovers. A fricken defensive player jumps offsides on a play that NEVER WORKS!? That team needs Dr. Melfi from The Sopranos.

---Gotta give a ton of credit to Chan Gailey for his offensive strategy today. We all know that Gailey loves to pass the football. He lives by it. I was thinking that his will to constantly pass would cloud his vision of attacking the Eagles defense. Frankly, I was having flashbacks to Kevin Gilbride's 2003 season. Instead, Gailey watched the film or checked out NFL.com's stats on rush defense. He used a power running game to beat down the Eagles. He also slowed down their pass rush by executing a number of screen passes to Fred Jackson. When you are facing a blitzing defense, the best way to slow the rush down is to throw screens. Stars for Chan all the way around. Best coach we've had since Marv Levy.

---Danny Batten, this ain't 1990. You can't lead with your helmet, especially against a QB who has complained (rightfully so) about late hits.

---Dream team, huh? Well, I can only assume that the Eagles rush defense was equivalent to Christian Laettner's impact on the 92' Olympic team.

---How about that offensive line? They have only given up four sacks on the season which ranks 1st. Amazing. To think that 6 weeks ago people wanted everyone cut from the line.

---Yes, I'm sure the "What if" game will be played a number of times by people within the media and some within the Bills Mafia. The Bills could very easily be 1-4, but you know what? I can easily look at the schedule of teams throughout the years and pick out fluky plays or games. The Pats made their first Super Bowl off the stupid tuck rule. Brett Favre handed the NFC Championship to the Saints in 2010 by throwing across his body. Hail Marys. Missed chip shot field goals. This happens a lot and I wonder if the traditionally good teams go about playing the "What If" game like we do. I seriously doubt it. Sure, it's tough to give the Bills the benefit of the doubt after 11 years of no playoffs. However, sometimes, evolution takes over. Teams rise and teams fall. The 49ers and Texans are decent now while the NFC East is floundering. That wouldn't be the case last year, right? Maybe this is just the Bills time to ride the wave to success.
