Strindberg’s great classic, Miss Julie, is given a powerful and chilling makeover in this adaptation. The original play about power and sex and money and class is updated from the Nineteenth Century to an English country house in 1945, immediately after World War Two. We watch breathlessly the sexually charged cat and mouse game between the spoilt aristocrat Miss Julie and her rakishly handsome chauffeur John. Marber’s adaptation is a thrilling tour-de-force of psychological and social drama. Not for the squeamish or faint of heart.
