First Friday featuring Lianna Hogan's MANIFEST exhibition
Friday 2nd Jun, 2017
MANIFEST is a photographic exploration of movement and color. Ms. Hogan uses a variety of photographic techniques including long exposures, multiple exposures and flash. Each image uses different elements to create a physical form to the energy that people “manifest” and carry with them.
Lianna Hogan is a Buffalo-based photographer and artist. In her portrait and fine art photography Hogan works with color and movement that has been influenced by her years of experience studying martial arts and yoga. She received a BFA in Photography from Villa Maria College in May of 2017 and her work has been exhibited locally at art galleries such as CEPA Gallery.
The artist states, “The movement of each of my images can be seen as a performance that happens behind the subject, imbuing them with something that can be read as an aura. The people who are subjects are chosen for diversity and a wide range of humanity and can be seen, not so much as sitting for a portrait, as being the stage on which the performance takes place. “
The opening night reception on Friday June 2, 2017 from 6-8 pm is free and open to the public. BCAT is located at 1221 Main St, Buffalo, NY 14209.
