Larkin Square Author Series Presents: Tim Shannon
Wednesday 11th Mar, 2015
Join us Wednesday, March 11th from 5:30-6:45pm for an informal book talk and signing with Tim Shannon!
Tim is an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction and has just published his seventh book since retiring. He will speak about his most recent novels: Da’s Shillelagh and Da’s Legacy, the chronicles of an Irish family struggling to survive during the turbulent frontier years in Western New York.
Tim was raised on Tipperary Hill in Syracuse, where the Irish made sure that the city fathers raised the green light to the top of the traffic light and demoted the orange and red lights to a more appropriate spot below.
He came to Buffalo to attend the State University of New York at Buffalo earning his Bachelor of Arts in English and Masters of Science degree in education. He taught Language Arts at the Attica Correctional Facility for four years and then taught Language Arts in the Buffalo Public Schools where he became a computer coordinator and eventually an assistant principal. Tim has been an adjunct professor at Canisus College and Niagara University. He left the Buffalo Public Schools to serve as principal of Alden High School from 1995 until his retirement in 2005, and has been writing full time since.
Tim currently teaches sailing on the Buffalo waterfront at Seven Seas Sailing School, paddles a kayak along the rivers of Western New York, enjoys gardening, bicycling, camping, hiking, geocaching, skiing, grandchildren and soaking in a hot tub until his aging joints move again.
