Lewiston Chalkwalk Competition

The challenge this year at this free event is to create a coin within the 9’ diameter circle in trompe-l’œil showing the image on the coin in relief. Our Chalk Walk is based on I madonnari (street painters), an Italian tradition of street painting that dates back to the 18th century, and will be held during the 49th Annual Lewiston Art Festival which attracts more than 25,000 visitors each year. The competition will be held on a section of a closed-to-traffic street. Pedestrian traffic will be allowed on the street to watch the artists.
