Join us for an evening of Spanish and Cuban music presented by the Alonso-Drummond Duo. Hailed as having a “one-of-a-kind chemistry” by the New York Concert Review, performing artists Orlay Alonso, piano, and Evan Drummond, guitar, bring to life a rich and vibrant reading of 150 years of Spanish and Cuban music while melding the best of piano and guitar literature.
After graduating from Yale University, artists Orlay Alonso, piano, and Evan Drummond, guitar, joined forces to create this Cuban-Alaskan Duo.New York Concert Review has described the Drummond and Alonso performance duo as having a “one-of-a-kind chemistry,” describing their “commit[ment] to sharing every note with one another and—most importantly—the audience at hand,” …“bringing the listener into the meaning of the music.” Guitarist Evan Drummond has been a featured performer throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Drummond joined the Music Department faculty of Buffalo State University where he teaches private guitar instruction, guitar chamber music, music history for non-majors, music theory for non-majors, and aural perceptions. Previous appointments include teaching at Eastman Community Music School, the California State Summer School for the Arts, the New York City Guitar School, and Interlochen Arts Camp. Mr. Drummond also teaches guitar at SUNY Fredonia.Pianist Orlay Alonso is gaining widespread recognition throughout the United States as a versatile performing artist. His talent has captivated audiences at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Yale’s Sprague Memorial Hall, Steinway Hall, Buffalo State’s Rockwell Hall, Tishman Hall of the New School University, the Spanish Institute, Lefrak Hall at Queens College, Rosch Recital Hall at SUNY Fredonia, Elebash Hall at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, Trinity Church, and the Liederkrantz.
