A delightful Wildean comedy revolving around extortion and corruption in London high society. Sir Robert Chiltern, a member of Parliament and pillar of the community, is being blackmailed by the mysterious and villainous Mrs. Chevely, who threatens to destroy him. Mischievous young aristocratic dandy and confirmed bachelor Lord Goring, whose philosophy of life can best be summarized as “To love oneself in the beginning of a lifelong romance,” intervenes, and a series of hilarious misunderstanding and comic blunders ensue. Oscar Wilde at his comic best!
