Description: Not just for the seasoned paper artist, this brand-new class is great for first-timers and the experienced alike. Using traditional Western papermaking techniques to pull sheets, students will then have an opportunity to experiment with them. Inclusions such as string, flowers, bits of writing, pieces of photos or prints can be physically placed within the paper. Some stenciling and work with pigmented pulp will also be shown, giving students the option to layer patterns. These pieces of paper can later be drawn or printed on top of or think about this process yielding a finished work in and of itself. With this class you have the opportunity to push paper out of the 2-dimensional and into something much more visceral and organic. (Students are highly encouraged to bring objects from their home to include in the paper.)
