2015 Major League Baseball Preview
We are now fully out of the steroid era in baseball. This is important to the integrity of the game but also for preview and projection purposes as pitchers now have a defined advantage over hitters. The era/battle of a productive out versus a strike out will be under more scrutiny as teams look to score enough to win games, especially when they face different power/specialty pitchers in the 6th -9th innings.
This year’s preview, like last year’s will focus mostly on pitching and where teams can expect to get outs from. The offensive side of the game has devolved into having a .220 average and 120 strike outs being acceptable if you can hit 20 home runs. Teams will need to go back to using speed and manufacturing runs more this year than in the past 40. There will be a fantasy stud and dud from each team. I will also be posting a biweekly column during the season about trends, stats and other things pertinent to the game of baseball to be posted on Wednesdays.
We start with the Champions and the NL West, and…here…we… go!
