An Evening with Mark Russell
Friday 15th Apr, 2016
Mark Russell returns to Buffalo just as the presidential election cycle is reaching a boiling point. Known for skewering Democrats and Republicans alike, Russell’s unique brand of comedy earned him the prestigious Mark Twain Award for political comedy and made him a favorite on PBS.
Russell continues to play off today’s headlines, performing stand-up comedy while accompanying himself on the piano. With impeccable timing, twinkling eyes and shock-of-recognition insights into American politics, he draws merriment from the pomposity of public life. Reading three or four newspapers a day allows him to constantly update his material. The result is that no two shows are ever identical.
Entertaining audiences on-air and in-person throughout the United States for more than four decades, Mark Russell hosted Buffalo’s WNED-TV and Public Television’s top rated “Mark Russell Comedy Specials” for 30 years. He returns to his hometown for one performance only of “An Evening with Mark Russell” on Friday, April 15 at 6:00pm at the WNED/WBFO Studios, 140 Lower Terrace, Buffalo. Proceeds will benefit the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site.
