El Dia de los Muertos

"El Dia de los Muertos” (The Day of the Dead) exhibit will will feature installations, sculptures and mixed media works from Mexican and local artists. The Casa de Arte Opening is on Sunday November 1, 2015, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. During the reception, attendees will be invited to bring “ofrendas” (offerings) such as meaningful mementos or favorite foods and drinks of the dearly departed one. Also, items such as painted skulls will be available to place on altars to honor the loved one.

This is Casa de Arte's most popular exhibit and will remain open through Sunday, November 14th.

El Dia de los Muertos is a national holiday in Mexico. The Day of the Dead features a blend of Mexican indigenous traditions with European Catholic influences and is first and foremost about honoring ancestors.
