Buffalo has a long and proud history of local architects, including being home to America’s first professional woman architect, Louise Blanchard Bethune. Local architectural firms, led by the prolific firm of Green & Wicks that designed several hundred local buildings, have designed many of Buffalo’s most beloved buildings. This downtown walking tour showcases many of Buffalo’s best local architects and some of downtown’s most recognizable landmarks. Buildings included as part of this tour include:
- Market Arcade – Green & Wicks
- Buffalo Savings Bank (Goldome) – Green & Wicks
- Electric Tower – Esenwein & Johnson
- Hotel Lafayette – Louise Bethune
- City Hall – Dietel & Wade
TOUR INFORMATION:
- Reservations are encouraged but not required for this tour.
- This tour is 90 minutes to two hours in length.
- Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather – the tour will proceed rain or shine.
- Cameras are encouraged!
- 2 pm - 4 pm
Parking: On-street parking is free in downtown Buffalo on weekends; private parking lots still require payment. The nearest public parking ramp is the Adam Ramp, one block away at Washington & Eagle Streets.
