It WAS a Wonderful Life @ Forest Lawn Cemetary
Saturday 26th Nov, 2016 → Saturday 31st Dec, 2016
EVENT DATES
Join us for this critically acclaimed original production as the historic and festively decorated Forest Lawn chapel is transformed into a live theater. Our narrator, John Lay – the first person to take up permanent residence at Forest Lawn, in 1850 – will introduce several of the new friends he’s made over the last 164 years at Forest Lawn. They, in turn, will create musical, comical and poignant glimpses of Christmases past, when they enjoyed life on this side of the lawn.
In addition to the perennial favorites, this season’s show features some new figures, including Shirley Chisholm, the first African-American woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives (where she served from 1969 to 1982) and the first woman from a major party to run for President of the United States; and John Dover, a private who served in the Union Army during the Civil War as a member of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry, the first exclusively African American unit to fight in the war. The unit’s story is told in the Academy Award winning film, Glory.
Performances are scheduled each Saturday and Sunday from November 26 through December 31. All performances begin at 2 p.m. (with 11:00 am shows on December 3rd, 10th and 17th). Tickets are $25 for general admission and $20 for members of the Forest Lawn Heritage Foundation. Special ticket pricing is available for groups of 20 or more, and the group organizer gets a free ticket. Scroll down to see the schedule of performances and to purchase tickets.
