Kelsey Merkle to Host First Open Studio Benefiting Roswell Park
Award-winning Clarence Center artist Kelsey Merkle will host her first-ever open studio on Sunday, September 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.at 6122 Railroad St., Clarence Center, NY 14032. The free event offers a rare opportunity to visit the studio of a living artist illustrator and view Merkle’s original paintings, affordable fine art prints, eyeglass cases, and note cards.
Known for her distinctive botanical portraits, Merkle challenges traditional representations of the female figure by creating women who are both beautiful and powerful—gentle and firm, decorative and dangerous. Her oil and mixed-media paintings combine technical skill with thoughtful storytelling, celebrating the many dimensions of modern femininity.
A portion of the proceeds from each painting sold will benefit Roswell Park Cancer Institute, a cause that is especially meaningful to Merkle. Her father, Larry Merkle is a popular plumbing contractor in Clarence, whose thrives today, thanks to the research and care provided by Roswell Park Cancer Institute after being treated for stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2019. Merkle’s work has been featured on MSN and in art publications, exhibited at juried art shows and prestigious art festivals across the country, and collected by art enthusiasts worldwide.
A professional artist since 2016, she continues to build a national following through her original paintings, illustrations, and engaging presence at art events across the country. The open studio is free and open to the public. Visitors are invited to meet the artist, explore her working studio, and discover artwork for their homes while supporting cancer research.
