Our next free Movie in the Vineyard is You Will Be My Son (2011).

“You Will Be My Son (2011) subtly transforms from one genre to another the way an exquisite, complex wine teases the nose before finishing strongly on the palate. French director and co-writer Gilles Legrand shows great mastery of tone and pacing in his third feature, which begins life as a domestic drama set at a family-owned vineyard and slowly morphs into a tense thriller.” – Roger Ebert

The film’s tension is extremely palpable as Paul Marseul (owner of the Marseul wine estate in France’s St. Emilion region) continually criticizes his son Martin Marseul while showing a clear preference for his vineyard manager/winemaker’s son Phillipe. Tensions build as it becomes more and more clear the Paul plans to have Phillipe inherit the estate.  Twists in the plot keep you guessing who will inherit the Marseul estate, and will the film end in joy or sorrow? Find out Friday the 12th!

Our Pre-Screening Party:

The movie is free, but for even more fun and excitement come to our pre-screening party. The core plot of the film is centered around the competition between Martin Marseul and Phillipe Amelot for the Marseul estate. The tension runs high as the head of the estate Paul Marseul  (father of Martin) show a clear preference for Phillipe. Paul often mentions how Phillipe has a better nose and palate. Inspired by the competition of the film for our Pre-Screening party we will be doing a blind tasting of several Victorianbourg wines. Whoever gets the most correct will win a bottle of wine of their choice! Tickets to attend the pre-screening party are $5.

Our Movies in the Vineyard series is a must see! For all of our customers who love wine just as much as we do we have created a movie series where each film showcases breathtaking vineyards, wineries, and of course wine! Relax and unwind as you escape into the on-screen world of wine and winemaking. Glasses and bottles of wine will be available for purchase so you can sip along with the characters in each film. Furthermore, the series covers a wide variety of genres ranging from horror to romance to comedy, so there is something for everyone. The best part is the screenings are free and all are welcome to attend! As a kick off to each film we will be hosting a pre-screening party where snacks and wine will be available.
