L’Alliance Française de Buffalo and the Department of Modern Languages of Canisius College are teaming up to present a play by Mario Diament: "Un Rapport sur la Banalité de l'amour.” This play will be performed in French by La Compagnie Caravague on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 7 p.m. at the Montante Center of Canisius College. English subtitles will be provided.
This is the love story of Martin Heidegger, a 35-year-old professor of Philosophy at the University of Marburg, and Hannah Arendt, his 18-year-old Jewish student. This play is based on two important historical figures of the last century. Their passionate relationship begins in 1925, and with the rise of Hitler, and then contorts to the implications of the times.
André Nerman’s La Compagnie Caravague, a theatre troupe based in France, has performed this play to great acclaim at the celebrated Avignon festival. They will include Buffalo on their North American tour this year. The trailer of this play can be seen on the AFB website.
