Opening reception: Dance With The Devil, an exhibition by Bob Collignon
Friday 20th May, 2016
The Western New York Book Arts Center (WNYBAC) presents Dance With The Devil, an exhibition by Bob Collignon, on view May 20 - June 24, 2016. An opening reception will be held on Friday, May 20th from 6 – 9 p.m. at the WNYBAC Gallery, 468 Washington Street, Buffalo. The reception will feature live music by David Kane, and is free and open to the public.
Collignon’s work focuses on reproduced imagery of the Trinity and Bikini Atoll Island nuclear tests of the 1940’s, and he has ultimately created works akin to paintings. Dance With The Devil grows out of Collignon’s fascination with destruction and the disconcerting beauty these images provide. A child of the postwar baby boom, his work draws on vivid memories of the “duck and cover” era, and an acute sense of shared autobiography.
Bob Collignon has been a working artist and commercial photographer for over 35 years. He is an AMPS Master Modeler, a model builder who has worked professionally with General Motors, Old Fort Niagara, Hirsch Projects, and Fine Scale Modeling Magazine. His works are in the permanent collections of the Albright Knox Art Gallery and the Burchfield Penney Art Center. WNYBAC Gallery hours are 12-6pm, Wednesday-Saturday. Gallery admission is always free.
