This exhibition is a collective of works meant to warm the soul. When the sun hits your skin on a winter's day, you are flooded with memories of June, July, and August. For just a moment we stir from our hibernation. Many of the pieces in this collection were created in the coldest of months, when the sun was hard to find.

These works speak to those little glimpses of life that flash in our mind when reminded of brighter days ahead. Through a rose colored lens, themes of rebirth and awakening are explored. Vibrant hues and loose lines imitate nature’s spectacle as it begins to come alive again.

Meet the Artist, Elizabeth Gatto!

Elizabeth Gatto is a painter, living and working in Buffalo, NY.

Her art practice revolves around the relationship between intuition and mixing color. She likes to flow through different mediums often experimenting with what feels beautiful at the time.

Elizabeth finds inspiration in botanical imagery, folk art, antiques, and children’s books. When she is not painting, she works as an Educator and Program Coordinator here at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens. The conservatory serves as a constant spark of creativity. Its luminous glass walls filled with organic forms, vibrancy, and bold patterns always inspire productivity. These different muses come together to inform Elizabeth’s work.
