STUDIO: Kelleher, Alcalá, Falck
Thursday 9th Mar, 2017
If the previous STUDIO events this season are any indication, you will want to come early for this free event as the last two have been standing room only.
You probably remember Michael Kelleher and his brown tuxedo from his time as Artistic Director and founder of Just Buffalo Literary Center’s BABEL series. Currently the Director of the Windham-Campbell Literature Prizes at Yale University, he is celebrating the recent release of two poetry collections: Visible Instruments (Chax Press) and Human Scale, his most recent book, from Buffalo’s own BlazeVox.
Rosa Alcalá, who now teaches at the University of Texas-El Paso, was awarded her PhD in English from the University at Buffalo. Her new collection M(y) Other Tongue, forthcoming from Futurepoem Books. She is perhaps most well-known for her translation work, specifically of Cecilia Vicuña, which has earned her an NEA Translation Fellowship.
Rounding out this evening is the Ohio-born Education Director of Just Buffalo Literary Center, Noah Falck. Now living on Buffalo’s west side, Falck has fallen in love with Buffalo, especially championing Silo City. His most recent collection is Snowmen Losing Weight.
