Oceans 8 Films is partnering with New York state’s biggest anti-fracking organizations, including Food and Water Watch, Frack Action, and New Yorkers Against Fracking, to preview its new documentary “Dear President Obama: Americans Against Fracking in One Voice”, bringing awareness to the dangers still posted by fracking to the citizens of New York state and the United States as a whole. The film tour kicks off in Buffalo, NY on March 9th at 7pm at Buffalo State College in the Bulger Communications Building, 1300 Elmwood Ave. It is open to the public and free to attend. Produced by Jon Bowermaster (award-winning journalist, author, filmmaker, adventurer and six-time grantee of the National Geographic Expeditions Council), the new documentary is a follow-up to “Dear Governor Cuomo”, a film that was instrumental in rallying the anti-fracking movement in their historic and successful campaign to ban fracking in New York. Despite the ban, anti-fracking organizations have been busier than ever, drawing attention to the environmental threats still posed to New York by fracking waste storage, while trying to replicate the success of the New York fracking ban in other states where people and communities are being victimized by major energy corporations. “Dear President Obama” gives the negative environmental effects of fracking a human face by profiling its victims, giving expert scientists a forum, and taking a hard look at the energy alternatives. The sneak peek will include a follow-up Q&A session with filmmaker Jon Bowermaster and representatives of Frack Action, Food and Water Watch, NYPIRG at Buffalo State, Western NY Drilling Defense and New Yorkers Against Fracking.
