Variable Relief Monoprint Workshop / Saturday March 28 / 1-5pm

In this workshop participants will explore the unique, diverse and expressive nature of monoprint combined with layered relief items. Participants will create unique or serially related prints from cut shapes, textural elements and direct ink manipulation.

Used in the class are sheets of white polystyrene that acts as a base plate that can be directly inked or scratched into to create “drypoint” lines, or cut to be used as a stencil or shapes as a collage element. Brushes, brayers and plate wiping techniques introduce painterly elements and multiple press runs of single or multiple plates can create unique and complex images.
