For almost 40 years, the Great Lakes Beach Sweep has brought waterfront communities together to protect and clean up our treasured Lake Erie shoreline. Since 1985, waterfront communities have been coming together to clean up their most treasured natural resources. The effort is part of Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup and has spread to all corners of the world. Today, it is considered the world’s largest volunteer effort, engaging schools, dive clubs, scouts, organizations, corporations and individuals who care about our earth and the effects of pollution.

The Great Lakes Beach Sweep helps hundreds of Western New York volunteers learn more about our beautiful Lake Erie and the natural resource it provides. Our commitment to improving the health of our oceans, lakes and rivers is evident in the tremendous response from people willing to step up and do something about pollution. ? The goal of the Great Lakes Beach Sweep is more than simply picking up litter — it is about changing behavior and inspiring people to take action to protect our natural resources for generations to come. Every September, volunteers head to beaches throughout the region to make a difference. ?️ Bring your family, friends and neighbors! ? Lend a hand. ? Help keep Lake Erie beautiful!
