Suzanne Cope, author of Small Batch: Pickles, Cheese, Chocolate, Spirits, and the Return of Artisanal Food. A fun twist on the typical book talk Larkinville is asserting its place in the craft food and drink movement with new and growing neighborhood businesses such Flying Bison Brewing Company and Buffalo Distilling Company, and partnerships at the new Hydraulic Hearth Restaurant & Brewery with Community Beer Works and BreadHive Co-op Bakery, among others. As an extension of this effort, the next installment of the Larkin Square Author Series will welcome Brooklyn-based food author and scholar Suzanne Cope, who will discuss her latest book, Small Batch: Pickles, Cheese, Chocolate, Spirits, and the Return of Artisanal Food.  In leading courses and conferences while writing for such publications as Edible Boston and Edible Buffalo, Copecollected stories from over 50 modern artisans, with a mission “to define and update the term ‘artisanal' and give insight into the influences, challenges, and identity of food artisans today.” Said fellow food author Bee Wilson, “Cope’s fresh and delightful book shares the idealism of these craft producers, who want to change the world one bite at a time.”  “It’s important to us to have Larkinville participate in this fun and meaningful food movement, and we’re excited to welcome Suzanne to learn from her book and share what’s developing here in Buffalo,” said Larkin Square Director of Fun Leslie Zemsky. “To that end, we’re inviting one of our favorite local artisans Deb's Delights to sample and sell their delicacies at the talk.” Books will be available for purchase from Talking Leaves, along with beer, wine and light fare from The Filling Station.
