Buffalo & Erie County Naval and Military Park
One Naval Park Cove Buffalo, NY 14202Slow Roll Buffalo continues the Memorial Day tradition of meeting at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park, which will be open all day offering discount admission to Slow Rollers. Our many military veteran squad members will lead the ride, and the afterparty will take place on and around the ships with food, drinks and music. New Slow Roll partner Fichte Endl & Elmer Eyecare will join us with a free handheld American flag giveaway before the ride, while supplies last.
This Monday's 10-mile roundtrip route includes neighborhoods downtown, Willert Park, Johnson & First Ward along major streets: Pearl, Huron, Sycamore, Broadway, Clinton, William, Michigan, Ohio & Hamburg, with two inclines, guided by our trained squad of more than 100 volunteers; two "mass-up" stops to allow for regrouping while community stakeholders inform riders of history, events and issues in the immediate area. In honor of Memorial Day, we'll again stop in the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor at the memorial for Jesse Clipper, a founding member of The Historic Colored Musicians Club who was the first local African-American to make the ultimate sacrifice in World War I. Our other stop will feature the Greater Eastside Block Club Fields of Dreams Buffalo.
