American Opera
American Opera is a musical project consisting of John Bee and his friends. Hailing from Saginaw, Michigan and transplanted to New York City, American Opera draws comparisons to artists ranging from Modest Mouse to the Avett Brothers, Rilo Kiley to Iron and Wine. John’s trademark voice stops conversations and draws immediate attention. The depth of his vocal delivery couples with his introspective and deeply personal lyrics to make a connection with anyone within earshot.
In the three years of American Opera’s existence, he has released three EP’s, including 2013’s “Your Songs”, an EP written based on fan-submitted true stories. He has toured incessantly, with nearly 200 live shows under his belt, including stops on the Acoustic Basement stage on the Vans Warped Tour, and dates with The Avett Brothers, Josh Ritter and the Royal City Band, Murder By Death, Owen, Cursive, and William Elliott Whitmore.
American Opera will enter the studio with producer Matt Goldman (Copeland, Anberlin, Underoath) this spring to begin work on his debut full-length album.
