So it was May 12th, 2011. A family I've known since high school was faced with terrible news. Alyssa was stuck by a vehicle and was in critical condition. I had only heard about it via Facebook, as my high school days were over, and I had lost touch with many people.

Fast forward to 2014. I had been at my job at the Applebee's near the galleria mall for almost a year, when my manager got the unfortunate news that Alyssa had passed after fighting for over 3 years. The connections to there people were astounding.

Now, fast forward to 2016. After almost 3 years at beforementioned store, I was dealt an uncomfortable situation, and forced myself to transfer to the store I work at now. That store welcomed me with open arms, and I re-met (so to speak) Alyssa's mother, Kym. Over the last year, talks have been had, and I was more informed on the events that I only read about. I've been re-introduced to her whole family, all of which I find to be genuinely good people.

I think it was sometime in January, and I was finally telling people about my festival series, and how I was planning more events, and the charities I wanted to work with. Kym casually expressed how she wanted to start an organization to help people that are in the situation she was in. She gave me the title, and I knew what I was going to do.

About a month ago, I informed her of my plan, and the event was set in motion. All of the profits will be going towards the building of this organization. On May 12th, we will mark 6 years to the day that this tragedy happened. But on May 13th, we will start to envision Aly's Inspirations.
