Imagine a roller derby bout. The first things that probably pop into your head are fast feet, powerful blocks, and strategic moves. Now take it up a notch (or two). That’s what you can expect to see at the the Subzero Sirens’ first game of the season against the Roc City B-Sides at 7PM on January 27 at Buffalo Riverworks. If you think you’ve seen it all, you’re in for quite a surprise. The Sirens are back and ready to hit the track skating towards what they hope to be a season victory.

Entering their second season in Buffalo’s Queen City Roller Girls League, this travel B team may be fresh and new, but their skill says otherwise. Packed with 20 of the league’s most talented players, the Sirens have the dexterity, ambition, and drive to combat any obstacles they may face -- including their opponents. Evenly matched against the Roc City B-Sides, Rochester’s travel B team, this sure-to-be intense bout will keep the crowd at the edge of their seats.

"The Sirens have always enjoy played Roc City and it is going to be an exciting game,” says Coach Vile Love It. “We have a new roster with some skaters from last season and some new skaters and we are looking forward to see them put it all together and make an impact on the track."

Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at www.qcrg.net/tickets. $15 will get you in the door and $20 will get you prime-time seating. So grab your family and friends and head out to Buffalo Riverworks on January 27 to root for your Buffalo Subzero Sirens in their first matchup of the year.

The Queen City Roller Girls (QCRG) have had their home in WNY for ten years and are entering their 11th season. The 2017 will be their third season at Buffalo Riverworks.  QCRG has five teams:  The internationally ranked (#27) Lake Effect Furies, the B-level travel team the Subzero Sirens and three house teams: the Alley Kats, the Devil Dollies and the Suicidal Saucies.  With over 70 skaters ranging in ages from 19 to 50.  QCRG is an all-volunteer run organization supporting WNY charities at every game.

QCRG is a member of the Womens Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) which has over 1000 member leagues on every continent in the world. Roller derby is one of the fastest growing sports in the world as well as one of two full contact sports for women (the other one is rugby).
