The Eight Limbs of Yoga
Saturday 9th Dec, 2017
Complete Wellness Arts & Science Center
1515 Kensington Ave. Buffalo, NY 14215Yoga is often misunderstood. It can be seen as just simply a form of exercise and often times many people doubt if yoga is something that they can even practice because of their age or ability. Yoga is actually much more than a form of exercise and yoga can be practiced by anyone. By looking at the deeper philosophical basis of yoga we can learn that yoga has a great variety of tools to offer everyone, no matter their age or ability.
In this workshop we will begin to consider why we are each drawn to the practice of yoga. After establishing our goals in the practice of yoga we will explore the methods that can get us to our goal. Here we will analyze and practice the many limbs of yoga- from the ethical principles of the yamas and niyamas, to breathing (pranayama), asana or postures, relaxation techniques, and meditation. Props like chairs will be used where necessary. Participants will leave with a simple hatha sequence and audio recordings that they can practice at home by themselves. Participants should wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat if they have one.
Cost: $35. Registration required by December 4th at
