Who are we?
What does Western New York mean outside of the community that claims it?
We are America – rolling hills, waterways, industry and the places of reflection – we are the people.

The most difficult question to answer with a direct short definition is: Just what is our region? How are we unique, and how have we developed that identity? Who is Buffalo and the Niagara Frontier?

Our answer spans time and places, we are our history and we are our future.

To best express ourselves, we do so through a collection of imagery and objects, calling forth our touchstones.

We are Niagara Falls, the Buffalo Bills and quiet sunsets on the lakes, Erie and Ontario, but setting is not enough; our strength is developed through harsh winters and industrial production. Our people, captains of industry or those that poured iron at Bethlehem Steel, educators or artists, our people have made the difference.
