One Community One Book World War I Day

May is One Community One Book Month at the Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries! Read it now -- 2018 featured title: Ernest Hemingway’s novel A Farewell to Arms, inspired by his real-life experiences on the Italian front. Series of book discussions, film showings and programs related to the book.
Saturday, May 5th is One Community One Book World War I Day at the Downtown Central Library, when there will be many interactive activities, including:
10:30, 12:30, 1:30 – Guided tours of Buffalo Never Fails: The Queen City and WWI exhibition
11:00am - “Donut Girls” WWI program for kids, with Teresa Wood
12:00 & 1:00pm – talks on the War’s legacy and influence on Hemingway’s writing.
1:00pm - Join Mary Sorrels for a discussion on the impact of Ernest Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms, the war’s legacy 100 years later and influences on Hemingway’s writing.
2:00pm – Musician James Kimball offers a WWI music program, including Over There and other songs
