As an artist and educator, Judith Kosinski has always been impressed by nature’s ability to persevere and continually strive to create new life, despite obstacles. She has taken this inspiration and used her art to push through life’s challenges herself.  New hope, purpose and joy have always been found in the process of creating for Judy, and this exhibit shows her love of experimenting with different media, different techniques, different mark-making, etc.  Judy’s floral paintings are not always literal expressions of what she sees but often instead, interpretations of what she feels when viewing nature’s wonder.  “For me, there is so much joy in taking this timeless subject of nature and stretching myself artistically to express what I see and feel in many different ways.  I am so inspired by the colors, textures, wildness and creativity of nature…!”  comments Judy.

Meet the artist, Judith Kosinski!

Judy Kosinski has been “making stuff” for as long as she can remember.   While studying for her degree in Social Work at Buffalo State University, she took whatever art courses she could fit into her schedule. Then, after 17 years of working as a Social Worker, Judy returned to school and to her first love, and earned another set of degrees in Art Education.  Teaching primarily at the high school level and throughout different communities, Judy has truly loved sharing her love of art whenever and however she could.  Creating her own art always came second to working with her students, so it has only been since retiring from full-time teaching that she has returned more to her own easel.  There, she loves to experiment with art-making with different media in any way she can.  Judy currently teaches part time at Buffalo State University working with student teachers in the Art Education program.  “To help my students fine tune their teaching skills and strengthen what they will bring to their own art students someday is a wonderful way to give back all that my own students taught me” acknowledges Judy.  It is a teaching role she very much enjoys.

Judy is continually inspired by nature and by people, in her art and in her life, and is a lover of learning.  She hopes you will enjoy viewing “Pushing Through” on view May 1 through June 28, 2026.
