Join us the evening of December 18 for the Grand Opening & Holiday Celebration event at The Ice at Canalside presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York!

Host Sue O’ Neil from STAR 102.5 will kick off the celebration at approximately 5:30 p.m. with brief speeches by local elected officials and dignitaries followed by an overview of the rich history of the site, from the days of the Erie Canal and Immigrant Steps to Buffalo’s Memorial Auditorium- both of which stood in this very spot!

Next, we’ll show you brief demonstrations of all the awesome Ice Programs and Events we’ll be offering you all winter, including:

• Ice Bikes of Buffalo
• Curling
• Broom Ball
• Figure Skating with Skate Great
• Pond Hockey with Hasek’s Heroes
• Community Skating with Gliding Stars Adaptive Skating

The celebration will conclude with a professional figure skating performance courtesy of BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, ribbon cutting, the lighting of our beautiful holiday tree sponsored by First Niagara Bank, an appearance by Santa Claus and a short fireworks display!

Local Artisans will be on hand selling goods for those last minute shoppers and local food vendors &  beverages will be available for purchase.

Free open skate for the public, courtesy of Canalside Buffalo, will start at approximately 6:15 and conclude at 9:00!
