John
Friday 8th Sep, 2017 → Sunday 1st Oct, 2017 Days: Sun, Thu, Fri, Sat
At a mysterious Bed & Breakfast in Gettysburg, a young couple battle memories, mistrust, and an angry American Girl doll, all while under the watchful eye of Mertis, their quirky innkeeper; Genevieve, her blind and aging friend; and a houseful of toys, knickknacks, and Victorian kitsch. Unable to connect, Elias buries his head in ghost tours and civil war tours while Jenny finds unexpected comfort in the peculiar older women who have ghost stories of their own. Over the course of one unconventional weekend, Jenny and Elias will realize that the scariest stories are the ones that haunt us from our own past. With humor and insight, John reflects on what we know and what we think we know, on strained connection and pervasive loneliness, on what we carry with us and what we leave behind.
Annie Baker (Circle Mirror Transformation, Pulitzer Prize-winner for The Flick) flirts with the supernatural in her latest work, a reflection on what we know and what we think we know, on strained connection and pervasive loneliness, on what we carry with us and what we leave behind. This is the WNY premiere of John.
